San Diego is *not* the same gig as Port Canaveral. In the case of the latter, you can purchase a Magical Express trip from the Orlando airport to the port, and vice versa. Here in sunny San Diego, ground transportation is only provided IF you’ve booked flights with Disney directly.
For the rest of us, good news – it’s only about two miles from (air)port to port, so options are a-plenty:
- Flying into San Diego?
- Taxi or ride share (roughly $12 and up, depending on passenger and bag counts; as of early 2020)
- City bus runs pretty regularly (about $8 a head per adult)
- Walk if you’re daring – one really busy intersection to cross at the signal, then a leisurely walk along the water’s edge pedestrian path
- Driving into San Diego?
- There’s a host of parking lots that are well-suited for weekend or week-long-plus trips
- Several hotels also provide parking with one night’s stay, and a shuttle, including our go-to: Holiday Inn San Diego Old Town (disclaimer: just our experience — we’re not compensated or a part of this hotel in any way for the mention). Up to 14 nights’ parking is included in the Stay and Cruise package (don’t just book a room), and if you call, you can inquire about longer parking options.
The OFFICIAL Disney Cruise Line word on options, by port, can be found here.
